5 Cozy Fall Decor Trends

I am going to put this in my blog today as well.
Today's topic: 5 Cozy Fall Decor Trends That Give Your Home a Boost.
Fall has arrived in TN...I think...lol. If you have lived in Tn any amount of time you know that Tn weather has a mind of its own.
We can literally experience all 4 seaons in one day.
So while the calendar says it is fall and the temps are beginning to act more like fall does not mean it is officially sweater weather.
I think it is still supposed to be close to 90 a couple of days next week.
Even still, most people have already decorated their house for fall...some maybe even have already started getting out the Christmas decor...
But here are a few fall decor tips that are trending this year.
1. Warm lighting.
This is one of my favs for any season. The harsh bright lights kill my eyes any time of the year. Fun fact...when I was teaching the lights were only every on during state testing when they made me. Otherwise it was warm lamp lighting. My students knew not to even think about touching the light switch.
Aside from my personal opinion the warm lighting makes the rooms feel more inviting, more cozy. Switch out this hard cool toned white-bulbs for warm amber LED and add amber glass table lamps to dark corners to make the room feel larger and more inviting.
2. Another one of my favs....
Earthy, Organic Textures.
No more shiny bright orange plastic pumpkins and shiny synthetic fabrics.
Try out some chunky knit wool throws, linen pillows, and brushed brass accents.
3. Curb Appeal.
Skip the spooky inflatables...I mean if that's what your into go for it...but if you are in the market to sell your home this fall (which is a great time to sell by the way...a topic for another day....ask if you have questions though.)
If you are trying to sell save the inflatables for your new home and opt for a harvest arrangment.
Use heirloom pumpkins in muted whites, sages, and earthy tones. Arrange them with potted amber mums and fresh eucalyptus wreath on the door.
This gives your home a warm welcoming. First impressions do matter in life as well as when selling your home. The first thing buyers see is your front door and porch...(unless the sellers have put the lock box on the back or side door...).
4. Okay yall....the new color trend is moving away from the grays and going toward rich neutrals. You do not have to repaint the whole house...just add in some colors of terracotta, deep burgundy and moss green throughout the house. You can easily add this with hand towels, throw rugs, pillows, etc.
5. And lastly....scents! You love your pets, me too! But if your house smells like it, its going to be a hard sell.
Get some deodorizers and then some subtle fall scents. Keep in mind sensitivities to smells and allergies...this goes for the pets too!
I'm allergic to cats and pet dander. I have done an open house where I literally had to sit outside the whole time and run to my car for some Benadryl after I set up.
But we are talking fall scents here..so please please please avoid the overwhelming artificial cinnamon aerosol spray. Instead try clean natural tones like simmering stovetop pots of apple slices, rosemary and vanilla, or a single high-quality soy candle with cedarwood and amber, pumpkin spice, apple spice. Just make sure it is a high quality candle and not too strong.
Hope this gives you some ideas to make your home more cozy and warm this fall.
Maybe TN will get a little bit of fall weather.
